The Daisy-Avanti Model 853 Competition Air Rifle is a single-stroke, under-lever cocking single-shot pneumatic air rifle in standard.177 caliber. Cocking force for the pneumatic power plant is 25 lbf. The receiver is diecast, complete with dovetail for scope mounting. The factory rated velocity is 510 ft/sec, yielding a typical muzzle energy of 4.5 ft-lb. Nominal weight for the Daisy Model 853 Air Rifle is 5.5 lbs.


The hardwood stock is in sporter-style with an adjustable length of pull of 12 to 13.75 inches. Overall length of the air rifle is 38.5 inches.


The barrel is a Lothar WaltherTM rifled high-grade steel barrel, crowned, 12 lands and grooves, right-hand twist. Precision bore sized for match pellets. The trigger is single stage, rated at 5.0 lbf. with a manual crossbolt trigger-block safety and red indicator. The included competition sights are a fully adjustable micrometer rear and a hooded front with interchangeable aperture inserts, which are provided with the rifle. An adjustable positioning sling is also included.
